SUMMARY:Overlocker Workshop
DESCRIPTION:If you have an overlocker and are not sure where to start with using it\, then this is the perfect workshop for you. The overlocker is a fantastic machine that really can do so much\, but best of all\, it will give your sewn projects that professional finish. It’s a machine that is loved and feared all at the same time\, but like anything in life\, once you get to grips with it and all it’s settings\, you will truly love it! \nDuring the workshop\, you will learn how to thread your overlocker\, learn how to change the tension settings\, change needles\, etc so that you learn how to use the different stitches and settings. \nWe will also work on putting  together a quick reference guide for your future use during this session by noting all the settings that are relevant to your specific overlocker and matching them with the sample. This will enable you to reference what settings to use in future to get the correct stitches. \nThe objective is to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to give you the confidence to work on many different sewing projects going forward on your overlocker. \nWe will break about half way through the session for refreshments\, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea\, coffee and cake to keep us going! \nThis workshop is made up of one\, 4 hour session. \nLearn the basics about your over locker machine and techniques:\nIdentify the parts of the overlocker\nThread and adjust the machine through its various settings.\nIdentify and sew different stitches and seams\, creating your own samples and quick go to guide of the tension settings for future reference. \nWhat do you need to bring:\nYour overlocker\, any overlocker tools that came with your machine\, power cable and manual.\n8 reels of thread (this is to facilitate learning how to change and rethread the overlocker).\nSnipping scissors and tweezers.\nSome people like to bring a magnifying glass to help to thread the needles. \nLevel: 1 – Beginner \nCourse Length: One\, 4 hour session \nMax in a class: 5 \nPrice: £65 \nRegister your interest \nI also carry a stock of fabrics and haberdashery should you wish to purchase on the day (card payment facility available). or you can also browse and buy fabrics at our online fabric shop. \nVisit Watsons Fabrics

SUMMARY:Introduction to the Overlocker Course
DESCRIPTION:If you have an overlocker and are not sure where to start with using it\, then this is the perfect course for you. The overlocker is a fantastic machine that really can do so much\, but best of all\, it will give your sewn projects that professional finish. It’s a machine that is loved and feared all at the same time\, but like anything in life\, once you get to grips with it and all it’s settings\, you will truly love it! \nDuring the course\, you will learn how to thread your overlocker\, learn how to change the tension setting\, change needles\, etc so that you learn how to use the different stitches and settings. \nOver the 4 sessions we will also learn how to work with stretch fabrics and make the Billie sweatshirt (Tilly and the Buttons Billie pattern included). \nThe objective is to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to give you the confidence to work on many different sewing projects going forward on your overlocker. \nWe will break about half way through each session for refreshments\, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea\, coffee and cake to keep us going! \nThis course will run over four weeks\, made up of four\, 3 hour sessions on 22/09\, 29/09\, 13/10 & 20/10. \nSession 1 \n\nLearn the basics about your over locker machine and techniques.\nIdentify the parts of the over locker.\nThread and adjust the machine through its various settings.\nIdentify and sew different stitches and seams\, creating your own samples and quick go to guide of the tension settings for future reference.\n\nMaterials required for Session 1: \nNone \nSession 2\, 3 & 4 \n\nSelect the correct pattern size.\nYou will learn how to lay and cut out your sweatshirt.\nLearn how to sew it together\, using a normal sewing machine and stretch stitches\, as well as over locking settings to finish off the seams and hems to give you that professional finish.\nLearn how to read and understand the instructions.\nLearn how to clean your over locker to ensure it keeps running well.\n\nMaterials required for Session 2\, 3 & 4: \nI recommend a stretch jersey fabric is best for this project.\nFrench terry sweat shirting\, polar fleece\, cotton sweat shirting\, stretches are good choices. \n\nFor the Sweat shirt Version 1 – Size 6 – 14 – 1.5m of 140 wide Stretch fabric If size 16 – 24 – 2.3m of 140 cm wide stretch fabric.\nFor the Sweat Shirt Version 2 – Size 6 – 14 – 1.8m of 140 wide Stretch fabric If size 16 – 24 – 2.3m of 140 cm wide stretch fabric.\nFor the Sweatshirt Dress Version 3 – Size 6 – 14 – 2.1m of 140 wide Stretch fabric If size 16 – 24 – 2.8m of 140 cm wide stretch fabric.\nFor the Sweatshirt Dress Version 4 – Size 6 – 14 – 2.3m of 140 wide Stretch fabric If size 16 – 24 – 2.8m of 140 cm wide stretch fabric.\n2 x reels matching thread – we recommend Gutermann Polyester Sew all threads.\n1 x packet ballpoint needles size 18/12 and /19/14 – we recommend Schmetz as a brand of good machine needles.\n4 x 1000m spools of thread to match your fabric for the over locker.\n\nLevel: 1 – Beginner \nCourse Length: Four\, 3 hour sessions \nMax in a class: 5 \nPrice: £185 \nRegister your interest \nI also carry a stock of fabrics and haberdashery should you wish to purchase on the day (card payment facility available). or you can also browse and buy fabrics at our online fabric shop. \nVisit Watsons Fabrics
