Introduction to Quilting – Quilt As You Go Technique

This quilting workshop is perfect for those wanting to learn the basics of quilting using a fun and creative technique called Quilt-As-You-Go.

Quilt-As-You-Go is similar to regular quilting except that you are quilting individual pieces all at the same time. That is, you are sewing through all three layers (fabric, wadding and backing) of your quilt in one go.

There is no precise pattern or exact measurement for each block so you can be as creative as you want.

Quilting individual or smaller blocks makes it easier to turn the block in your machine especially if you wish to have a different design on each block. For example, chevron, block, wavy lines, etc.

The technique you will learn can be applied to any sized quilt, table runner, foundation for a quilted jacket for example to name a few. Your creative possibilities are endless.

I have sewing machines available for use during the sessions, but if you do have your own sewing machine, I would recommend you bring it along so that you can become more and more confident in using your machines features.

We will break about half way through each session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep us going!

This course will run over three weeks, made up of three, 3 hour sessions.

Block Sizes : 10½” x 10½” or 25.5cm x 25.5cm.
