Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply when booking a course, class, workshop, lesson or other sewing session with Eli-b Create & Sew by Claire Watson.

Please take a moment to read them before making a booking. By booking and making payment, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Bookings and payment

Places on courses, classes and workshops are limited and your place is only confirmed once payment has been received.

Payment is required in advance of the class or workshop.

If you are paying by bank transfer, please contact me at claire@eli-b.co.uk for my bank details. Please allow enough time for your payment to clear before the date of your class.

Changing your booking

I understand that plans sometimes change.

If you need to move your booking to another available class or date, please contact me as soon as possible.

Where you give me at least 7 days’ notice before the start of your class, course or workshop, I will do my best to move your booking to another suitable date, subject to availability.

Changes requested with less than 7 days’ notice cannot normally be accommodated because class sizes are small and your place may not be possible to fill at short notice.

Cancelling your booking

If you need to cancel your booking, please let me know as soon as possible by email or telephone.

If you cancel 7 days or more before your class, course or workshop, you may transfer your place to another person or, where appropriate, move the value of your booking to another available Eli-b class or workshop.

If you cancel less than 7 days before the start date, I may be unable to offer a refund or transfer because your place has been reserved for you and may be difficult to fill at short notice.

Where I am able to fill your cancelled place, I will do my best to offer you a refund or credit, less any reasonable costs already incurred.

If you do not attend your booked class or workshop without letting me know, the booking will normally be treated as a cancellation and no refund or transfer will be available.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights.

Classes and workshops booked for a specific date

Courses, classes and workshops are usually booked for a particular date or series of dates.

The statutory 14-day cancellation period that applies to many online and distance purchases does not generally apply to leisure services that are booked for a specific date or period.

Your cancellation options are therefore set out in the cancellation policy above.

Minimum class numbers

Most group classes and workshops require a minimum of 3 participants to run.

Occasionally, I may choose to run a class with fewer participants. However, I reserve the right to postpone or cancel a class if there are not enough bookings.

If I need to cancel or postpone a class, I will give you as much notice as reasonably possible.

You will be offered the choice of:

  • transferring your booking to another available date
  • receiving a credit for the amount you paid
  • receiving a refund

I cannot be responsible for other expenses you may have incurred in connection with attending the class, such as travel or accommodation, except where the law requires otherwise.

Cancellations by Eli-b

Very occasionally, I may need to cancel or rearrange a class because of illness, an emergency or circumstances outside my reasonable control.

If this happens, I will contact you as soon as I can and offer you an alternative date, credit or refund.

Gift vouchers and credits

Eli-b gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated on the voucher.

Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

Where a credit is issued following a changed or cancelled booking, the expiry date will be confirmed when the credit is issued.

Sewing safely

Sewing involves the use of equipment such as sewing machines, needles, pins, scissors, rotary cutters and irons.

I will provide appropriate guidance on the safe use of equipment during your class and ask everyone attending to follow the instructions provided.

You are responsible for taking reasonable care of yourself and others while attending a class or workshop.

Eli-b Create & Sew will provide its services with reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Personal belongings

Please take reasonable care of your personal belongings while attending a class or workshop.

Eli-b Create & Sew cannot accept responsibility for loss of or damage to personal belongings unless that loss or damage results from something for which I am legally responsible.

Links to other websites

The Eli-b website may contain links to other websites that are operated by third parties.

These links are provided for convenience and information. I am not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of websites operated by other organisations.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to remove or restrict any rights you have under UK consumer law.

Changes to these Terms and Conditions

I may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time, for example if I change the way classes are booked or if legal requirements change.

The Terms and Conditions that apply to your booking will be those in place when your booking is made.
