What information do I collect?
The personal information I collect will depend on how you interact with Eli-b.

- details relating to a class, workshop or lesson you have booked
- information you provide when contacting me with an enquiry
- your marketing preferences
- photographs, where you have given permission for them to be taken or used
Most of this information is provided directly by you when you contact me, make a booking, register your interest in a class or sign up to receive emails.
How I use your information
I may use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiries
- arrange and manage your sewing class, course, workshop or lesson
- contact you about a booking
- send invoices and manage payments
- keep appropriate business and accounting records
- contact you if a class needs to be changed or cancelled
- send newsletters or information about future classes where you have chosen to receive them
- manage any questions or requests you make about your personal information
I will only use your personal information where I have a lawful reason to do so.
Depending on the circumstances, this may be because the information is needed to provide a service you have requested, to meet a legal obligation, because I have a legitimate business reason to use it, or because you have given your consent.
Email and Gmail
I use Gmail to communicate by email.
When you email me, or when I contact you about an enquiry or booking, your email address, name and the contents of the email may be stored within Google’s services.
Google may process information on servers located outside the UK and uses safeguards for international transfers of personal information in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.
Newsletters and Mailchimp
If you choose to join my mailing list or register to receive news and updates, your contact information may be stored and processed using Mailchimp.
I use Mailchimp to send occasional emails about Eli-b, including news, classes, workshops and events.
I will only send you these marketing emails where you have chosen to receive them.
You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in the email or by contacting me at claire@eli-b.co.uk.
Mailchimp may process personal information outside the UK and uses safeguards for international transfers in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.
Sharing your information
I do not sell your personal information.
I may share or allow access to personal information only where this is necessary to run Eli-b or where I am legally required to do so.
This may include trusted service providers such as:
- email providers, including Google
- email marketing providers, including Mailchimp
- website and hosting providers
- banking or payment providers, where relevant
- professional advisers such as accountants
- government, regulatory or law enforcement bodies where required by law
Where another organisation processes personal information on my behalf, I take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate data protection arrangements are in place.
International transfers
Some of the service providers I use, including Google and Mailchimp, operate internationally. This means that personal information may sometimes be processed outside the UK.
Where this happens, I use providers that have appropriate arrangements in place to protect personal information in accordance with UK data protection requirements.
How long I keep your information
I will not keep your personal information for longer than is reasonably necessary.
How long information is retained depends on why it was collected.
For example:
- booking and payment information may need to be retained to meet accounting, tax or other legal requirements
- correspondence may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry or booking
- mailing list information will normally be kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you
When personal information is no longer required, it will be deleted or securely disposed of where reasonably possible.
Keeping your information secure
I take the security of your personal information seriously and use reasonable measures to help protect it from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
However, no method of sending or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Photographs
I occasionally take photographs during sewing classes and workshops to share the creativity and achievements of the people who attend Eli-b.
Where you can be identified in a photograph that I would like to use for promotional purposes, such as on my website or social media, I will ask for your permission.
You do not have to agree to photographs being taken or used, and choosing not to be photographed will not affect your ability to take part in a class.

Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you a number of rights over your personal information.
