Friendly French Braid
14 August 2022 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
£90As the name suggests this project is easier than the hairstyle! Making use of fabric strips whether scrap fabric or a jelly roll you are quickly able to make a table runner, placemat, cushion cover or quilt top.
The beauty of this design is that “whatever works”; you may make this runner shorter or longer by adapting the number of strips you wish to use.
I made use of a Batik Jelly Roll to make my table runner.
Requirements for a table runner measuring 62 ½” x 11 ½”
(159 cm x 29cm) but:
- Jelly Roll 2 ½” wide (6.5cm) strips
- Fat Quarter of contrasting fabric
- 12” binding fabric (30.5cm)
- Wadding to fit 70 x 20” (170 x 40cm), approximately
- 42” or 1 metre of baking fabric
- Quilting ruler
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat
- Sewing pins
For all quilting courses, students are to provide their own sewing materials and resources. Please see the link below, for the suggested items in no special order.
We will break about half way through for tea, coffee and cake to keep us going as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body. However, if you have any dietary or allergy requirements, please do let us know in advance so we can try and cater accordingly.
Level: 2-3. This is an intermediate level class, and not suitable for complete beginners. You will need to have some knowledge of sewing and how to use the sewing machine. If you have sewn years ago and want to freshen up this is a great way to do just that.
Class Length: One, 5 hour session
Max in a class: 6
Price: £90
