If you are new-ish or advanced at sewing and want to learn how to sew with stretch and knitted fabrics, then this is the perfect class to learn how to work with stretch fabrics and make a super cute and comfy night dress for your little girl.
During the course you will learn a variety of skills, like how to lay out your pattern, pin and cut out your fabric accurately. You will learn how to do gathers, and apply a neck band as well as how to stabilize and control stretchy seams.
If you would like to learn to make a little girls Summer dress, then this class will be perfect for you. Learn to sew, be creative & make a gorgeous little Summer dress that’s perfect for that little princess.
You will learn how to over lock your seams and give you that professional finish to your seams as well as how to sew in a set in sleeve. You will learn how to hem Stretch fabrics and how to sew top stitching, giving your garment that High street look.
The skills you will learn during this course can be applied to other stretch projects, you may wish to do.

We will break about halfway through each session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep us going!
Session 1
- Laying out and cutting
- Learn to lay and pin your pattern
- Learn how to cut out all the necessary pattern pieces
- Learn how to prepare the sleeves with gathers
- Learn how to sew the sleeves and Hem the sleeves
- Learn how to prepare the neckband
Materials required for Session 1:
Depending on the size of the child, between 1 meter and 1.5 metres of stretch fabric. Good choices would be cotton Lycra, Cotton Jersey Knit or Viscose Jersey fabric. Thread to match .
Session 2
- Continue to put the dress together
- Learn how to join the shoulders together controlling the seam length
- Learn how to apply the neck band
- Learn how to Join the side seams together and finish all the seams
- Learn how to sew in the sleeves
- Learn how to hem the night gown
Level: 2-3. This is an intermediate level class, and not suitable for complete beginners. You will need to have some knowledge of sewing and how to use the sewing machine. If you have sewn years ago and want to freshen up this is a great way to do just that.
