Introduction to Patchwork
12 August 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
£130This is a great way to build a quick and easy quilt top to be used as a shopping bag or lap / cot quilt.
Squares are the most basic shape in quilting. Each side of the square is the same size; cut on the straight grain; and the design is easily adapted by changing the size of the square.
During this three week course, you will learn the various stages of patchwork: Design, Cutting, Patchwork, Quilting and Binding.
Should you wish to only attend one week and only create the quilt top then that is also possible.
In my design, I used 10 squares for one side of my bag and then a larger piece of fabric for the other side. There are so many alternatives, should you wish to deviate slightly!
Materials required for the workshop (approximate):
For all quilting courses, students are to provide their own sewing materials and resources. Please see this link for the suggested items in no special order.
Pre-Loved to Re-Loved fabric such as duvet covers, table cloth, curtains, work shirts, school uniform all make great alternatives to going out and buying fabric.

Terminology:

- Jelly Roll is made up of wide strips of fabric measuring 2.5” and cut from selvedge to selvedge.

- Layer Cakes are pre-cut squares of fabric measuring 10” (25.5cm)
We will break about half way through each session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep us going!
Level: 2-3. This is an intermediate level class, and not suitable for complete beginners. You will need to have some knowledge of sewing and how to use the sewing machine. If you have sewn years ago and want to freshen up this is a great way to do just that.
This course will run over three weeks, made up of three, 3 hour sessions on 12/08, 19/08 & 21/08
Class Length: Three, 3 hour sessions
Max in a class: 6
Price: £130
