Make Your Own Comfy Sweatshirt

The comfy sweatshirt course is a brilliant course to do if you are wanting to start learning to sew with stretch fabrics and you will get to use the over locker, (or if you prefer – learn how to use the overlooking function on your sewing machine) while making a sweatshirt that fits perfectly and is super cosy and comfy.
On this course you will learn to create your own pattern from our Eli-b Pattern blocks. You will learn how to make minor adjustments to your pattern so that the sweatshirt and pattern offer you the perfect fit! You will also get to keep your pattern so that you can make more sweatshirts for months and years to come.
We will break about half way through each session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep us going!
This course will run over three weeks, made up of three, 3 hour sessions:
Session 1
Make your pattern.
Lay and cut out all the pieces.
Materials required for Session 1: 1.80m x 145cm wide sweatshirt fabric – Needs to be stretchy.
2 x reels matching thread – we recommend Gutermann Polyester Sew all threads.
1 x packet ballpoint needles size 18/12 and /19/14 – we recommend Schmetz as a brand of needles.
Session 2
Start to sew the sweatshirt checking the sizing and perfecting the fit and pattern.
Attaching the neckband and getting that just right.
Top stitching detail.
Session 3
Inserting sleeves.
Attaching cuffs.
Finish all top stitching.
