Make Your Own Designer Pyjama Course

This is the perfect course for those who wish to learn to sew their own pyjamas and is best suited for those who have used a sewing machine before or completed the Beginners Introduction to Sewing Course.
This is fantastic course for those wanting an introduction into making clothing as your will learn how to read and interpret patterns and learn simple garment construction techniques.
At the end of the course you will have one complete pair of adult pyjamas trousers and matching applique top.
During the course you will learn how to lay, pin and cut out your trousers. You will learn how to assemble your trousers step by step and learn the art of applique as you learn how to stitch onto stretch fabric and make a unique design on your pyjama top, giving you your own designer pyjamas of matching trousers and appliqued top by the end of the course.
We will break about half way through each session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep us going!
This course will run over two weeks, made up of two, 3 hour sessions:
Materials required: You will need to bring fabric for the pyjama trousers, a t-shirt (long sleeve of short sleeve) and elastic for the waist.
How much Fabric do I need? – For an adult size, You will need to buy the fabric twice the length measured from your waist to the floor plus 30 cm to allow for shrinkage and hemming ( all as one piece of fabric).
Below are some suggested fabrics that will make your pyjama trousers comfortable to wear depending on the time of year.
Suggested fabrics for Autumn/Winter: brushed cotton, flannelette.
Suggested fabric for Spring/Summer: 100% cotton, cotton lawn or viscose.
IMPORTANT TIP: Pre-wash and and iron your fabric prior to the class as these fabrics will shrink on the first wash!! If you intend to tumble dry your pyjamas then be sure to tumble dry the fabric too, to maximise any further shrinkage prior to cutting and sewing your pyjamas.
How much Elastic do I need? Elastic for the waist of the adult – The width of electric should be 3.5-4 cm wide and the circumference of your waist measurement in length.
Level: 2-3 Intermediate level or have attended Beginners Introduction to Sewing Course.
