Quilting – Stain Glass Patchwork

Using your sewing skills you will be creating a sample piece. During this workshop you will be introduced to two quilting techniques: Applique and Stain Glass.

More complex designs exist and can be available as a follow up course.

Transfer your design, apply to fabric, piece your design, and create the stained glass effect.
The pattern will be provided on the day.

Requirements

• 1 x 14” top fabric
• 1 x 14” back fabric
• 1 x 14” cotton wadding
• Clover Fusible Web Bias Tape in Black – 6mm x 10m obtainable from Amazon.
• Heat & Bond
• Fabrics – Ideally medium sized scraps of fabric
• Spray Starch from the supermarket
• 505 Adhesive from Amazon
• Black thread

Equipment

• Rotary cutter and acrylic ruler
• Cutting mat
• Sewing machine (foot pedal, power lead, manual and accessories e.g. feet, bobbin, needles)
• Frixion Pen / Marking pen
• Basic sewing kit (small scissors, unpicker, pins, etc).

I have sewing machines available for use during the session, but if you do have your own sewing machine, I would recommend you bring it along so that you can become more and more confident in using your machines features.

We will break about half way through the session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and snacks to keep us going!
