£90This is a two part workshop running on 29th September & 6th October.
Part 1:
Create a Log Cabin Cushion Cover making use of strips of fabric. You may wish to use up scraps of fabric alternatively make use of a jelly roll where the fabric is already cut 2 ½” wide.
Sample size, approx.: 16” x 16” (40 x 40 cm)
Part 2:
Using the Cushion Design from Lesson 1 create a Cushion with a zip and binding.
Requirements:
- Fabric for Back – Cushion Cover: 1 x Fat Quarter
- Alternatively ½ m of fabric
- Front Cushion Cover: Jelly Roll alternatively scraps of fabric. The width of the strips are all 2 ½”.
- Cotton Wadding : 18 x 18”
- White or cream Calico / Old Sheet: 18 x 18” (1 x Fat Quarter)
- 505 Adhesive from Amazon
- Zip: 16”
You will also require fabric for a simple binding on your cushion.
Thread: Black, White, Cream (dependent on fabric colour choice).
Equipment:
- Rotary cutter and acrylic ruler
- Cutting mat
- Sewing machine (foot pedal, power lead, manual and accessories e.g. feet, bobbin, needles)
- Frixion Pen / Marking pen
- Basic sewing kit (small scissors, unpicker, pins, etc).
NOTE:
Should you wish to create the Blue Log Cabin then you would require a selection of 3 each of different colour groupings that have lighter, medium and darker in each group. The width of strips are all 2 ½”.
In the illustration you can see I have a light to medium group of three light blues and the other
half is a medium to dark blues. The lightest shades are in the centre getting darker toward the edges.
A 3 ½” square for the centre. Traditionally, this is red in colour but should you wish to be different, then please do!
I have sewing machines available for use during the session, but if you do have your own sewing machine, I would recommend you bring it along so that you can become more and more confident in using your machines features.
We will break about half way through the session for refreshments, as sewing is thirsty work for mind and body therefore it’s only natural that there will be plenty of tea, coffee and snacks to keep us going!
Class Length: Two, 3 hour sessions
Max in a class: 5
Price: £90
